Use this guide to talk to your doctor about AFib to get the most of your appointment.

What questions should I ask my doctor?

1. List all the medications you are currently taking to manage your atrial fibrillation, including how much and how often.  

2. Think about any atrial fibrillation symptoms you are experiencing even when you are are taking your medications, like:

    ~ Feeling tired (fatigue)

    ~ Feeling faint

    ~ Heart beating fast

    ~ Chest pain

3. Questions to discuss with your doctor:

    ~   What is causing my atrial fibrillation?  

    ~  What type of atrial fibrillation do I have (e.g., paroxysmal, persistent, permanent)?

    ~ What can I do to lessen or end my symptoms

    ~ What types of treatment options are available and which one do you think is best for me and why?

    ~ How effective are these treatment options (what are the advantages and disadvantages)?

   ~ What is my risk of having a stroke and what can I do to decrease the risk?
